I believe that Peter was joking because in the text it says, "Ender, I'm sorry, I know how it feels, I'm sorry, I'm your brother, I love you" (45).

We think that in the story, Peter wasn't joking or directly threatening them, we think he was just acting tough so he didn't look weak in front of his siblings. This is because even though he is physically on Ender, on page 12, he apologizes sincerely to Ender on page 15 when he thinks Ender is sleeping. He just doesn't want to seem weak. "Ender, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I know how it feels, I'm sorry, I'm your brother, I love you" (Orson 15). This shows that Peter wasn't completely serious about the threats he was giving Ender and Valentine.

I don't think that Peter was joking when he threatened to kill Ender and Valentine. In the book, Peter regretted what he did to Ender and Valentine. He came into the room, and whispered "Ender, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I know how it feels, I'm sorry, I'm your brother, I love you" (Card 15). Peter apologized because he meant it, and was not joking. He wouldn't apologize if it was only a joke.

We think that Peter was serious about what he said to Ender and Valentine. Peter said that he was sorry but for different reasons. We think that he apologized not for his threat, but for how their parents treated Ender after he lost his monitor. Peter told Ender and Valentine, "I'm going to kill you and chop you into little pieces and put you in the garbage hole" (Card 14). When Peter apologized he said that he knew how it felt. Peter is the oldest so no one has taunted him like that. However, he knew how it felt to get his monitor off so he was apologizing for that.

I believe peter was joking because on page 15 peter says he is sorry that he hurt him while playing he says that he is very sorry about his actions (Card 15). He may have apologized to Valentine later because in the morning they seemed sort of tranquil towards each other. This proves he was joking or he wasn't serious about what he said and did.

I believe that Peter was not joking when he threatened Ender and Valentine. Normal people don't joke about those kind of things or cause Ender and Valentine to believe the treats to be true. The text stated "I could kill you like this, just press and press until you're dead. And I could say I didn't know it would hurt you, and that we were just playing, and they'd believe me, and everything would be fine" (Card 12). Peter was said to do this quit often, leading me to believe he was serious.
